Intermodal

Northeast Wisconsin Intermodal Freight Facility Study

On November 11, 2019, New North hosted an lntermodal Rail Summit. This forum provided an opportunity to hear from customers as to why intermodal matters, learn from a panel of transportation service providers, and review intermodal business models from partners of Class I rail operations, global liner service, and domestic intermodal and truck drayage. It also reviewed the results of the Wisconsin Freight Advisory Committee’s lntermodal subcommittee final report.

Through a Wisconsin Department of Transportation grant, the Northeast Wisconsin Intermodal Freight Facility Study was completed in May 2022 by CPCS, a management consulting firm specializing in infrastructure, along with local partner SEH.

The objective of the Northeast Wisconsin Intermodal Freight Facility Study was to determine the economic viability, operational feasibility, and potential location for rail-truck intermodal services in Northeastern Wisconsin.

A Summit to share out the findings occurred on Tuesday, May 17th. Click here for a copy of the final Northeast Wisconsin Intermodal Freight Study Report.
