NEW Broadband Alliance

The New North Broadband Alliance is a collaborative initiative established in May 2023 to enhance broadband connectivity across Northeast Wisconsin's 18 counties.

Our mission is to ensure that every resident and business has access to reliable, high-speed internet, recognizing its critical role in economic development, education, healthcare, and overall quality of life.

Our Objectives

• Grant Preparation Support: Assisting counties in crafting compelling applications for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, which has allocated $1.05 billion to Wisconsin for broadband enhancements.
• Knowledge Sharing: Facilitating monthly meetings where county representatives exchange insights, strategies, and best practices to tackle connectivity challenges.
• ISP Collaboration: Engaging with Internet Service Providers to explore innovative solutions and partnerships aimed at expanding broadband coverage; read A Guide to Broadband Expansion.
• Resource Development: Creating tools such as the New North BEAD Hub, in collaboration with regional planning commissions, to serve as a centralized repository of information and resources for broadband expansion efforts.

Recent Initiatives

In January 2024, the Alliance unveiled the New North Broadband Overview Map, an interactive tool designed to aid in planning and visualizing broadband infrastructure projects. This map offers localized data in an accessible format, benefiting community planners, ISPs, and policymakers in their decision-making processes.
