ClimateThe New North offers four beautiful seasons to be enjoyed year-round. Don’t let the “north” in “New North” fool you: The Great Lakes keep winters moderate through much of the region, particularly the population centers, and there is more than ample opportunity for swimming and sunbathing in summer. The range of temperatures below reflects the variation between the northern and southern extremes of the region.
Risk of inclement weather in the New North is minimal. Move, Inc. indexes U.S. cities according to a variety of variables, where 100 equals the national average, 50 is half the national average and 200 is twice the national average. The risk of severe weather for New North cities is approximately 40, or less than half of the national average, and the air pollution index (which includes ozone, carbon monoxide and particulate matter counts) is in the 70s. |
