Support an Entrepreneurial climate and Small Business

Supporting the entrepreneurial climate in the New North is an initiative that looks to support the creation of an image of the region that is inviting to entrepreneurs.  Examples of strong entrepreneurial support include:

• The NEW Capital Fund, providing venture capital in support of entrepreneurial endeavors that meet certain risk thresholds.
• The Business Assistance Center at Northeastern Wisconsin Technical College, providing both technical and incubator facilities.
• The Venture Center at Fox Valley Technical College, providing one-on-one and structured programming in small business management fields. 
• Wisconsin Entrepreneurs Network (WEN) and Wisconsin Innovation Network (WIN) are matching entrepreneurial resources needs to regional and state supported institutions
• SCORE, counselors to America's small business. 
  • Fox Cities branch
  • Green Bay branch
  • Milwaukee branch, serving Fond du Lac and Sheboygan counties
  • Madison branch, serving the Oshkosh area
• Wisconsin Small Business Development Centers at UW-Oshkosh and UW-Green Bay
• Wisconsin Angel Network (WAN)

Joint efforts with WEN, WIN, the Pulp and Paper Institute, NEWWEA member organizations and private industry's research and product development demonstrate entrepreneurial vitality in New North.

The focus is on three core strategies:

• Developing a small business and entrepreneurial agenda
• Assessing small business/entrepreneurial resources
• Initiating web-based outreach and branding
