Bio - Jerry Murphy

Jerry MurphyJerry Murphy is the newly appointed executive director of New North, Inc. an organization that developed from the Northeast Wisconsin Regional Economic Development Partnership, the group that spearheaded the region's economic collaboration effort more than a year ago.

Murphy comes to New North, Inc. from the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise (BNE) where he worked as the Executive Vice President since March of 2002. In this position he oversaw operations, internal financial matters and strategic planning/implementation. The Buffalo Niagara Enterprise is a regional (eight counties) public/private funded economic development organization charged with marketing and managing business development projects in Western New York.

Prior to joining the BNE, Murphy worked for Michigan State University and the Gogebic County Economic Development Commission in Michigan as an Economic Development Resource Specialist and Executive Director. For 14 years he combined management of regional revolving loan funds, regional marketing, technical support to resident industry, financial packaging/planning, and university extension and community college faculty responsibilities in teaching and community planning around development initiatives.

Murphy began his 22 year career in economic development in Milwaukee, Wisconsin following completion of an MBA from UW-Parkside.
